Schools Near Dorado, Guaynabo and Palmas del Mar: Drive Times

Puerto Rico is one school district, so no district raises your property tax. Drive times from each community to its nearest school, measured one by one. Palmas del Mar is the only one with an accredited school inside the gate.

Puerto Rico is one school district. Not one per municipality — one for the whole island. The school your address is assigned to does not change your property tax, and there is no better district to buy into. What changes is the drive.

From The Bristol in Condado, Saint John’s School is five minutes. From Bahía Beach, the nearest top school is thirty-seven. From Palmas del Mar it is eight, because the school is inside the gate.

Why there is no school district to pay for here

The U.S. Department of Education’s district database lists the Puerto Rico Department of Education as a single district running 864 schools in 2025-26. The Census Bureau publishes one unified school district boundary for the entire island. Puerto Rico is one of five jurisdiction-wide public school systems in the United States, alongside Hawaii, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa.

On the mainland a strong district is priced into the house and into the tax bill. Here there is no district line to cross. Families relocating under Act 60 are choosing a private school in almost every case, and that decision is about the commute, not the ZIP code.

What the table says

Guaynabo has three of the nine and Dorado has two, which is why both keep coming up when a family leads with the school instead of the house.

Río Grande has none. Bahía Beach and Grand Reserve mean a daily round trip of roughly seventy minutes to Condado. That is a real cost and it belongs in the decision before the offer, not after it.

Condado has the shortest commute on the island. Palmas del Mar has the only one that never leaves the community.

What it costs

Tuition at the top-tier schools, TASIS, Baldwin and Saint John’s among them, often exceeds $20,000 a year. Verify current tuition, fees and admission timelines with each school directly — they change year to year.
